Yves Saint Laurent, one of the greatest names in the fashion industry, has a store in downtown San Francisco at 108 Geary Street that they recently expanded and chose the Bay Area’s own PolishedCrete to finish the floors.
“The challenge here was to tie in the existing floor which had been installed about a year and a half ago, with the additional floor and have it look seamless and like it was all done at the same time,” noted Mike Price CEO of PolishedCrete. “We partnered with Dickinson Cameron Construction, one of the country’s leading retail and restaurant construction management firms, on the project.”
The project called for ARDEX SD-T, a self-drying, self-leveling, Portland cement-based topping for fast track resurfacing. ARDEX SD-T is an indoor concrete that hardens fast due to its self-drying formulation. After the floor was dry, PolishedCrete then began to polish the new concrete floors up to a 400 grit high gloss finish before sealing.
In order to minimize down time for the store, the polishing was done with all the finishes–shelves, mirrors and counters (made from glass and marble) already in place.
